St. Philip’s College proudly announces the appointment of Tommy Morris as the Dean for Student Success, Educational Support Services. A Mississippi native, Morris joins SPC from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he previously served as the Director of Student Life. With over 20 years of experience in higher education, Morris brings extensive knowledge to this SPC leadership position.

During his career, Morris has explored higher education with a multi-faceted approach. His experience ranges from residential life to student affairs, student leadership, educational consulting, enrollment management, and campus programming. In his new role, he will oversee counseling services, accessibility services, service-learning programs, Title IX, and student life.

When asked why he chose SPC for the next step in his career, Morris stated, “SPC is on the cutting edge of exemplary educational leadership. As I researched the college, the institution’s history as an HBCU and the legacy of Saint Artemisia Bowden stood out as unique. I’m excited about the future of SPC.”

Morris is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Urban Higher Education, with an expected graduation in May 2025. His research focuses on persistence rates among Hispanics in community colleges.

“I look forward to serving the dynamic students at SPC. I believe in a student-centered approach to student services. I’m excited to work with my colleagues and providing students with the resources they need to reach their full potential,” said Dean Morris.
