“Our founding president, Saint Artemisia Bowden, dreamed of making St. Philip’s a baccalaureate degree-issuing institution over a century ago. St. Philip’s College can now officially issue a four-year degree. Thank you for your contribution(s) to the history and legacy of St. Philip’s College. You are a part of making this dream a reality! As a community, we share the collective success, that the Bachelor of Applied Technology Degree in Cybersecurity brings,” said Dr. Adena Williams Loston, President of St. Philip’s College.

At its meeting on December 8, 2024, the SACSCOC Board of Trustees reviewed the membership at Level II to offer the Bachelor of Applied Science and Technology in Cybersecurity degree.

The new program is part of SPC’s ongoing effort to support the local workforce and provide much-needed talent to the region's thriving IT and cybersecurity industries. There are approximately 1,000 IT and cyber defense companies in the San Antonio area that will directly benefit from a local pipeline of cybersecurity graduates ready to fill high-demand, high-paying jobs.

The curriculum for this new degree was developed in close collaboration with industry experts, ensuring that students will be equipped with the latest tools, techniques, and best practices in cybersecurity. SPC students will gain hands-on experience in state-of-the-art facilities, including the Saint Artemisia Bowden Center of Excellence and the Cybersecurity Innovations Center.

SPC remains committed to producing top-tier cybersecurity experts to protect the nation’s critical infrastructure and support San Antonio’s growing tech industry. This new degree underscores the college's dedication to closing the talent gap and preparing students for the future of digital security.
