Updates to Return to Campus Plan for Fall 2021

August 13, 2021

Due to the rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in the state and across Bexar County because of the COVID-19 Delta variant, the Alamo Colleges has decided to adjust its Fall 2021 plan for Return to Campus. For the Fall 2021 semester, Alamo Colleges District colleges and offices will continue to be open, and the fall semester will begin on Monday, August 23, as planned. However, there will be some changes in effect for the first two weeks of the semester while the district continues to monitor the status of the COVID-19 Delta variant surge, along with city, county, state and CDC recommendations.

The major changes will be:

  1. Most courses will take place remotely for the first two weeks of the semester (Aug. 23-Sept. 3). College operations will continue at Level 2 staffing through Monday, Sept. 6. Essential student support, including college advising and Advocacy and Welcome Centers, as well as instructional support services including libraries and tutoring services, will be available on site.
  2. Dependent on area conditions, the district will transition to Level 1 operations across the ACD on Tuesday, Sept. 7, with classes delivered on-campus.
  3. Effective Monday, Aug. 16, all employees, students, and vendors' employees who are scheduled to work regularly on site will be required to be screened for COVID-19 on a weekly basis. Screening will be available several days each week at each of our colleges and the District Support Operations location.
  4. The district is launching the Alamo Colleges District’s (ACD) Pledge to reflect its commitment to keeping its community safe and healthy. Alamo Colleges encourages everyone to take the pledge today to keep the ACD family safe and healthy.

The most up-to-date information about the Alamo Colleges’ plans for fall and answers to questions will be provided on our website at www.alamo.edu/coronavirus, which will be updated regularly.
