Elementary School Camps
Title: Teach Me to Cook!
Quick Summary of Camp: Cooking videos for children ages 5-15, focusing on building beginner friendly cooking skills and meals. First, we will cover topics such as household equipment and safety followed by cooking demonstrations—everything from breakfast to dinner with snacks in between! We will also discuss supplemental ingredients for those who are Vegan. 3 Videos will be offered weekly for 6 weeks.

Title: Stories at the SAC Library!
Summary of Camp: These short readings will take you on a little journey. The stories are read by your librarians inside the San Antonio College Library. Come read along with us!

Title: Beginning Ballet and Jazz Dance
Summary of Camp: In this fun and energetic dance camp, students will learn the principals and technique of a basic Ballet and Jazz class. A choreographed dance combination will be taught for both genres of the camp with one session spent learning various flexibility and strengthening exercises.

Title: Read Along with SAC Academic Advising
Summary of Camp: Read along with the SAC Academic Advising team while we share with you some of our favorite childhood books! We will be reading books like Ada Twist Scientist, Frog and Toad are Friends, and much more. Join us each week for a new read along.

Title: Fairytale Camp
Quick Summary of Camp: This camp will explore beloved fairy-tales like Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and others. Campers will read and consider the meaning of original versions of fairy tales, and engage in fun artistic activities. Each fairy tale will be covered in a 45 minute video.

Title: Science Around Me
Instructor: Irene Salazar
Summary of Camp:Students will learn about the science that can be found around them. In this series, MESA Center Peer Mentor Irene Salazar will share with the campers some of science found around her. Using various artifacts, she will share the amazing things that can be found in our world. Some subjects students will learn include earth science, recycling and gardening. Content will be accessible in English and Spanish.

Title: Pegasus Feathers: Myth and Learning
Quick Summary of Camp: Myth and learning will compare one of Dr. Medina’s Brain Rules with one Greek myth that explores a similar idea during each 45 minute session. Campers will be expected to help predict the nature of a Pegasus feather by learning some of the biology of a feather and applying that to the mythical winged horse.

Title: Camp Makes-A-Lot: 3D Summer Camp
Quick Summary of Camp: This Summer camp will present 3D technology skills to students in an abbreviated, "survey" format. Students will learn how to model object, sculpt creatures, generate terrain, scan artifacts, print toys, animate scenes and visualize worlds.

The SAC Teen Leadership Council is a council for and by teens interested in creating programming, outreach possibilities and overall building leaders in the community. Learning outcomes include: Describe what teen leadership means to the community. Explain and experience how leadership skills and qualities affect teen leaders. Apply skills to potential grants, foundation and/or college administration.

Summer Camp kids will learn the basics of Skincare and Makeup 101! It will give them a basic routine for good skincare while learning how to apply makeup to enhance appearance.

Summary of Camp: With MESA Center Tutor Meredith Liza, students will use geometric tools and learning to make and create origami. Attendees will become comfortable with Euclidean concepts and geometric models.

Instructor: Stephanie Connolly
Summary of Camp: MESA Center Tutor Stephanie Connolly will teach students introductory programming through the creation of art, interactive programs, and game design. Students will be introduced to basic computer logic using code blocks. Next, students will learn JavaScript using the p5.js library and coding environment; and the basics of OOP (Object Oriented Programming) through the creation of basic arcade style games.

Summary of Camp: With MESA Center Academic Lab Technician Ben Uresti, students will use digital and real components to develop a series of interconnected tasks to complete one goal. Often described as an overcomplicated way to do a simple task, learn how to think like an engineer and compose a new system for something you do everyday!
