Program Type: Face-to-Face, Fully Online
Program Level: Degrees, Online
Department: Natural Sciences
Institute: Science & Technology
College: SAC

What is the program?

The Associate of Science program aligns with the first two years of a bachelor of science degree, preparing you to continue your education at a four-year university in a variety of fields, including science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

What will I learn?

Much of your coursework will fulfill general education requirements, which typically include math, English composition, social science, and humanities courses. After completing general education courses, you can take courses in your area of concentration or take electives in your preferred area of study. This program emphasizes science, technology, engineering and math courses. The number of required courses and course distribution will vary between schools, so check with an adviser at your school to determine the exact requirements. Follow the pre-major AS to BS Transfer Advising Guide for the major and university you plan to attend.

What can I do with this course of study?

An associate of science degree is generally a transfer degree that provides an academic foundation to pursue a bachelor's degree, as opposed to an associate of applied science degree, which prepares you to enter a career immediately after graduation. If you're interested in joining the workforce, this degree may prepare you for entry-level positions such as lab techs or other roles.

What's special about this program?

This program is a pathway to a higher degree, preparing you for the rigor and academic expectations of a bachelor of science program at a university. You'll transfer with your first two years completed, saving you money on your education while boosting your earning potential. This degree is available fully online or face-to-face, making it easy to pursue your education while balancing other responsibilities.
