Install, configure, and maintain an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), data communications network, operating systems, and physical and virtual servers. Perform system monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems. Review system and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups. Analyze network and server resource consumption and control user access. Install and upgrade software and maintain software licenses. May assist in network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software.

What is the program?

The network administrator program trains you to design, implement, and maintain computer networks, preparing you for entry-level positions in the computer networking and data communications fields.

What will I learn?

This program gives you practical experience as it teaches you the basics of network protocols, routing, switching, troubleshooting, and other advanced technologies. You’ll learn how to manage firewalls and wireless networks, how to upgrade systems and networks and evaluate performance and security. You’ll become familiar with the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform and Palo Alto Firewall configuration. You’ll also be prepared to earn the globally recognized Cisco CCNA® certification and  Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification.

What can I do with this course of study?

You’ll get the knowledge to continue your education or to begin your career in information technology and networking. This program provides the theoretical knowledge of networks and operating systems you need to pursue entry-level positions such as network administrator, network technician, IT tech and systems analyst in a variety of industries. You’ll be prepared to work for organizations that provide enterprise network services to clients using Cisco, Windows and Linux solutions.

What is special about this program?

This program is available both face-to-face and fully online. The program also offers a 15-hour certificate in CISCO networking technologies with a goal of earning a Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification and a 12-hour Virtualization/Private Cloud Enhanced Skills Certificate program in server virtualization and cloud computing. The median pay for network and computer system administrators in 2022 was $90,520 per year, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
