What is the program?This program introduces you to the scientific study of human behavior by exploring the history, theories, research methods and principles of psychology. What will I learn?You’ll explore major topics in psychology and the factors that determine and affect behavior and mental processes. Topics include social psychology, interpersonal relations, biological psychology, group dynamics and more. You’ll also learn about research methods and statistics and develop skills in recording, organizing, analyzing and interpreting data. What can I do with this course of study?You’ll be prepared to transfer to any four-year psychology degree program at Texas public universities. A psychology degree can open the door to a variety of careers such as psychologist, counselor, therapist and community service worker. Most entry-level positions in psychology require at least a bachelor’s degree, but an associate degree may qualify you for careers such as psychiatric technicians and aides, substance abuse and behavioral disorder counselors, social and human service assistants. |
What's special about the program?The study of psychology is a great way to learn more about yourself and others. SAC offers multiple ways to study psychology, including classrooms with computer and multimedia technologies; blended and online delivery; field experiences; and co-curricular programs, such as Psychology Club and Psi Beta Club. Courses are taught by highly qualified and experienced faculty. You’ll also get real-world experience through a practicum that places you in the workplace.
