Students who graduated in the fall of 2024 and who plan to graduate in spring of 2025 and summer of 2025 are invited and encouraged to participate. For all information regarding commencement, please continue to refer to this website and monitor your student email (@student.alamo.edu) for updates.
Commencement Ceremony FAQs

Graduates and candidates need to arrive at the Alamodome between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.
Parking lots B, & C are available for parking during the San Antonio College Commencement. Lots B & C can be accessed from the southbound lane of Cherry Street between Montana St. and César E. Chávez Blvd.
Parking lot A has a limited amount of accessible parking for guests with disabilities.
Lot A can be accessed via the northbound I-37 access road, between César E. Chávez Blvd. and Montana Street.
- Be prepared for extensive walking. It is recommended to wear comfortable footwear.
- Leave valuable (purses, etc.) with family or friends. There will not be a place to secure valuables.
Parking lots B, & C are available for parking during the San Antonio College Commencement.
Lots B & C can be accessed from the southbound lane of Cherry Street between Montana St. and César E. Chávez Blvd.

Lot A can be accessed via the northbound I-37 access road, between César E. Chávez Blvd. and Montana Street.

Alamodome Parking Fee: $20
Methods of payment accepted: credit cards
Cardholder must present valid identification for all credit card transactions.
No cash or check accepted as method of payment.
Graduates and candidates please proceed to the SOUTH end of the Alamodome and enter through the Loading Dock entrance. Metal detectors will be used for your safety. In addition, bags will be searched prior to entering the facility.
- Once you enter the Alamodome, there will be personnel directing you to the appropriate check in station. The check in stations will be inside the Alamodome behind the stage.
- Immediately proceed to the check in station to pick up your name card.
- Once you have checked in and have your name card in hand, please proceed to the seated waiting area behind the stage until you are called to lineup for the procession.
- All names will be called. When you are called to the backstage area, please be sure to bring your name card with you.
- As soon as you come off the stage, there will be Flash Photography to take your picture.
- Following this, you will be directed back to your seat.
- Students are required to remain in their seats throughout the entire ceremony. The ceremony will last approximately 2 - 2.5 hours.
Public access to the Alamodome begins at 8:00a.m. Guests should proceed to the north end of the Alamodome to enter through the main entrance. Please inform your guests that they will not be able to reserve seats. Seats are available to everyone on a first-come-first-served basis. The ceremony will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m.
Degree candidates who need accommodations to participate in their Commencement Ceremony, are asked to send an email to sac-grad@alamo.edu to discuss accommodation possibilities with the appropriate Commencement Staff.

Graduation is a process consisting of meeting with your certified academic advisor, applying for graduation on paper, updating your diploma name and address in ACES if necessary, along with completing all academic requirements.
Degrees are awarded at the end of each Fall, Spring and Summer semester.
Students who graduate at the end of the Summer semester may participate in the annual commencement ceremony. Click HERE for information regarding graduation.
Commencement is an annual celebration for students who are Fall graduates and for students projected to successfully complete all of their graduation requirements by the end of that Spring or Summer semesters. San Antonio College usually holds its graduation ceremony in May.
Fall 2023 graduates, Spring and Summer 2024 graduating candidates may participate in the Commencement 2024 ceremony.
Participation in commencement does not imply that graduation requirements are met. Attendance is not required to earn your degree or certificate.
San Antonio College graduation candidates earning an associate degree or a certificate wear red caps and gowns. Graduates earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing wear black caps and gowns.
Regalia includes the following items: cap, gown, and tassel. Also, if you qualify, you will also be provided with one or more of the following cords:
- Black (San Antonio College GPA is 3.5 and above)
- Yellow (Member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society)
Fall 2023 Graduates, Spring and Summer 2024 Graduation Candidates can pick up student regalia during the additional Cap and Gown Distribution.

When you pick up your cap and gown you will be required to complete a name card. You will receive this card at check-in on the day of the commencement ceremony. As you cross the stage, your name will be read from this card. Please do not leave without completing your name card when you pick up your cap and gown.
Regalia distribution includes the following items: cap, gown, and tassel. Also, if you qualify, you will also be provided with one or more of the following cords:
- Black (San Antonio College GPA is 3.5 and above)
- Yellow (Member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society)

Example: If you are 5’7” - 5’9” and your weight range is 230 you will need a 4-B gown.

Graduation gowns should fit loosely so they hang over your body without restricting movement.
Please select your gown size carefully, we have limited inventory and you may not be able to exchange.
