Dr. Jacob-Aidan Martinez Appointed Interim Dean for Student Success

San Antonio College announces two interim appointments.
Dr. Jacob-Aidan Martinez has been appointed Interim Dean for Student Success. In this new position, his focus will be on services related to Wellness and Belonging and he will oversee several offices on campus, including:
- Office of Student Life
- Student Conduct and Title IX
- Student Advocacy Center
- Student Accessibility Services
- International Student Services
- Project Apoyo
He will report directly to Dr. Barbara Hong, Vice President for Student Success.
Martinez, who has been at SAC since 2011, has served in a variety of leadership roles at the college. Since 2019, he has been Director of Student Life in the Student Success Division. His duties included overseeing campus activities and events, clubs and organizations, intramural and recreational sports, and civic engagement.
From 2018 to 2019, he served in a role similar to the Interim Dean for Student Success while a candidate was selected. Before that, he was director of Student Conduct & Title IX and a coordinator for Student Success.
He holds an associate degree in sociology from Palo Alto College, a Bachelor of Arts in criminal justice from St. Mary’s University, a Master of Education degree in educational leadership and policy studies from the University of Texas as San Antonio, and a doctorate in higher education administration from Texas Tech University. He is currently working on a second master’s degree, in science and educational psychology, at the University of North Texas.
Additionally, Marisa Martinez has been named Interim Director of Student Life. She will report directly to Dr. Martinez.
She has served San Antonio College in various capacities for 10 years. Most recently, she was a coordinator for Student Success in the Office of Student Life. Her duties included organizing events for the First Year Experience and new student orientation, assisting students with enrollment and registration, and developing presentations on available resources to different student populations.
Previously, she served as a certified enrollment coach and as a part-time advisor and senior specialist in the Student Success Division.
She earned a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology from Texas A&M University in Kingsville and a Master of Education in higher education administration from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
